The Blichmann Therminator™ Wort Chiller is one of the most popular tools to use when chilling your wort, as it gets the job done quickly, effectively and without much effort from you.  You’ll be able to chill just like the pros when you use the Blichmann Therminator™ Wort Chiller, as it is extremely similar to the chillers used in commercial breweries.

With the capability to chill 10 gallons of wort down to 68 degrees when using 58 degree water in just five minutes, it’s small but mighty! It measures an ultra-compact 7.5 inches wide, 4 inches deep and 3 inches high, which also makes it very easy to clean and sanitize. It is brazed together with pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace so there are no potential leaks.

Does not include chiller bracket or upgrade kit.

The Blichmann Engineering Therminator offers key features comparable to commercial brewery chillers, including the ability to chill 10 gallons down to 68°F in just 5 minutes using 58°F cooling water at 5 gallons per minute. It saves money with the lowest water consumption on the market and features stainless steel plates and fittings, along with a heavy-gauge stainless steel mounting bracket. The unit is ultra compact at 7.5″ W, 4″ D, and 3″ H, and it’s brazed together with pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace to ensure no potential leaks. Its super-low restriction makes it ideal for gravity feed, and it’s easy to clean and sanitize while being small enough to boil. Garden-hose thread connections on the water side eliminate the need for extra adapters, while 1/2″ male NPT fittings on the wort side connect with virtually any common hose connector. It’s great for southern climates and compatible with our TopTier™ stand or Tower of Power™ LTE to make storage effortless.

How to use this graph:
This graph is used to predict the gallons per minute (GPM) of wort you can chill from boiling down to 68°F (the ideal starting temperature for fermentation) using water from your garden hose as the cooling medium.

Measure the cooling water flow using a bucket of known volume and a stopwatch (gal/min) Measure the cooling water temperature using an accurate thermometer Choose the line that best matches your cooling water flow rate [blue (5.0 GPM), red (3.0 GPM), or green (2.0 GPM)] Go to the point on the y-axis (labeled “Cooling Water Temp”) that matches your cooling water temperature measured in Step 2 Draw a horizontal line until it intersects the cooling water flow rate you selected in Step 3 Draw a vertical line at their intersection down to the x-axis (labeled “Wort Flow”) to find the wort chill flow rate you need

Example: If you have 58°F cooling water and a 5 GPM flow, draw a horizontal line at 58°F (see dark line in graph above) over to the blue line. Draw a vertical line from the intersection down to the x-axis. Your wort chill flow rate will be 2.0 GPM.

Ice-cold cooling water and high flow rates make it easy to design a helpful cooler. But fall, spring, and summer bring higher groundwater temperatures that make it difficult to cool wort down to the right levels.

That’s why we’ve leveraged 20+ years of engineering and homebrewing experience to develop the Therminator™. The result is a chiller that works well all year round, providing raw cooling horsepower and the features brewers demand, including:

Broad operating range at fast cooling rates Low water usage for high efficiency Low restriction for gravity feed at high flow rates Compact size for easy use and sanitation Heavy-duty mounting brackets for simple installation Convenient straight-through water connections to prevent kinked hoses Resistance to plugging Substantial reduction in ice usage for cooling

We’ve tested and analyzed the competition using precise thermometers, flow meters, and a cooling water-blending module for precise control. The results? The Therminator™ remains the best overall value as king of the coolers!
