Features

The BrewEasy™ is a revolutionary new ultra-compact and economical all-grain brewing system.  This patent pending system and process utilizes a two kettle recirculation infusion mash system called the Kettle-RIMS™ or K-RIMS™ process for short.  This system is very simple to use and is a very approachable way to transition from extract to all-grain brewing. The BrewEasy™ system eliminates the need for a sparging, simplifying the process and saving time.

The BrewEasy™ provides all the simplicity of a traditional no-rinse brew-in-a-bag (BIAB) system, but offers the ramping capability of a traditional RIMS system, eliminates the messy and unsafe lifting of hot grains, and provides better wort clarity than BIAB.  Be sure to read through our manual (see the manual tab) to get all the details of the BrewEasy™ to see why this system may be the ticket for you!  Efficient, fast, and it lets you BrewEasy™!

Already a Blichmann Engineering BoilerMaker™ owner?  Awesome! The BrewEasy™ is modular in nature so you only buy what you need!  Works with both our gas and electric systems.

How does it all work? This two kettle K-RIMS™ system eliminates the hot liquor tank of a traditional three tier system as well as the time consuming and somewhat complicated sparging process.  While a three tier system is still the most versatile and efficient, the BrewEasy offers improved efficiency over traditional no-rinse BIAB while eliminating the lifting of hot grains. The recirculation through the mash bed generates super clear wort.

Simply start with ALL of your brewing water (liquor) for your brew day and place about half in the lower kettle (boil kettle) and the remainder in the upper kettle (mash tun).  Set your AutoSparge™, turn on the pump and add heat.  The liquor will recirculate from the boil kettle, into the mash tun, and back into the boil kettle.  When the liquor has reached the dough in temperature, turn off the pump and add your malt.  Ramping through several temperature rests is as easy as turning on the burner!  When you're through your mash, simply turn off the pump and let all the wort from your mash tun drain into your boil kettle and boil as normal.  It's as simple as that!  Looking for automation?  Add in the TOWER of POWER™ temperature control module and convenient TOWER LTE™ stand!

Be sure to check out our informational tabs for comparing the BrewEasy™ to BIAB and other all grain systems.  And be sure to check out the how to buy tab for information on configuring your system!

FAQs

Can I brew a smaller batch in a larger BrewEasy™ system?

You can brew a smaller batch of beer than the size the BrewEasy™ was designed to accommodate. Several caveats are important to note and special steps will need to be taken. We recommend using the BrewEasy™ for the designed batch size and suggest purchasing in the batch size you plan to brew the most.

Smaller than 5 gallons in 5 gallon BrewEasy™:

We do not recommend smaller than 4 gallon finished batch size in the 5 gallon BrewEasy™.

5 gallon batch in 10 gallon BrewEasy™:

When brewing smaller batches in the larger system you will encounter a thinner mash bed, which can lead to cloudier wort. We recommend at least 10 pounds of grain to avoid an overly thin mash bed. We highly recommend purchasing the 9”, BE-000159-00, to accommodate the smaller mash.

When brewing with gas, caramelization can be an issue with low volumes in the bottom kettle of the BrewEasy™. This is especially problematic with the electric BrewEasy™ as the BoilCoil™ must remain fully submerged during operation. You should always maintain a minimum volume of 5 gallons in the bottom kettle at all times. It is important to set the AutoSparge™ float to maintain this minimum volume.

The BrewMometer™ will likely not be an effective method of verifying the mash temperature as the mash bed will not reach the stem of the BrewMometer™.

10 gallon batch in 20 gallon BrewEasy™:

When brewing smaller batches in the larger system you will encounter a thinner mash bed, which can lead to cloudier wort. We recommend at least 20 pounds of grain to avoid an overly thin mash bed. We highly recommend purchasing the 12” AutoSparge™ float rod, BE-000160-00 to accommodate the smaller mash.

When brewing with gas, caramelization can be an issue with low volumes in the bottom kettle of the BrewEasy™. This is especially problematic with the electric BrewEasy™ as the BoilCoil™ must remain fully submerged during operation. You should always maintain a minimum volume of 7 gallons in the bottom kettle at all times. It is important to set the AutoSparge™ float to maintain this minimum volume.

The BrewMometer™ will likely not be an effective method of verifying the mash temperature as the mash bed will not reach the stem of the BrewMometer™.

Is the HopBlocker™ compatible with the BoilCoil™?

The HopBlocker™ is compatible for use the BoilCoil™. Special care should be taken when installing the diptube and HopBlocker™ to avoid bending the BoilCoil™.
